Judicial Nominees
Editor, Times-Union:
I am outraged at the partisan games that Senator Daschle and Senator Leahy have been playing with President Bush's judicial nominees. They have created a crisis in the federal courts by leaving these important positions vacant indefinitely.
President Bush has nominated over 100 men and women of distinction and accomplishment. They are solidly within the mainstream of American legal opinion and all of the pending nominees thus far have received either a well-qualified or qualified rating from the American Bar Association.
Judges help ensure that the innocent remain free and the guilty are punished. Judges make decisions that help safeguard the stability of the marketplace and address the grievances of those who have been wronged. Because of the number of vacancies in our nation's courts, Americans are being forced to wait for justice, and the burden on sitting federal judges is growing heavier.
I expect more than partisan politics from our nation's leaders. Senators Daschle and Leahy need to end their stonewalling and confirm President Bush's judicial nominees.

Telemarketers
Editor, Times-Union:
World Book Dictionary: rude #1, not courteous; impolite; #3, rough in manner or behavior; violent; harsh; #4, harsh to the ear; unmusical.
If these telemarketing morons manage to get this no-call list struck down and then call my house after I've made it perfectly clear that I want no such calls, someone will need to add another number to the list, such as, #5, all of the above and then some!
What sort of marketing insanity is that anyway? Are they so stupid that they can't see they will infuriate one million potential customers that they might sell by some other means?
About as bad as a gun dealer I heard of once who brags of having voted for Bill Clinton twice. Some people are just too stupid to be in business.
