02-17-2007The final touches are being put on preparations for the 2007 Red Ball March 10 at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, during National Red Cross Month.
The theme for the ball will be “Walk the Red Carpet.” Proceeds from the ball go to the local chapter of the Red Cross. In the past six years of Red Balls, the Red Cross has received net proceeds of $210,677, for an average of $35,113 per year.
The ring featured in this year’s live auction was donated by Bill and Susan Allen, Allen Designs. The contemporary white and yellow 14k gold ring is set with 1 carat of pavˇ diamonds.
Some of the other items in the live and silent auctions are: a full-scale child’s playhouse, donated by Skyline Builders; a 45-foot-yacht cruise for six on Lake Michigan; a Colt’s football helmet autographed by Marvin Harrison; a flat-screen TV; Amish Acres dinner and theater tickets for two; Lasik or cosmetic eye surgery at Grossnickle Eye Center; home color consulting by Kim Timmons; a “Harry Potter” opening night party at North Pointe Cinema; “A Day in the Life of a Star” pampering package, with voice lessons; a studio recording session ; and a variety of gift baskets with “Star-Quality” items.
In addition, other opportunities to give to the Red Cross will include purchasing pieces of the “Concannon’s family recipe” cream cake, decorated in a Hollywood theme, for a chance to win a prize, or a new “giving room” will be available for anyone who just wants to give a donation.
Entertainment will be The Marlin Brothers, a band from southern Indiana who have been well-known for 25 years as being able to provide a wide variety of music. For attire, “anything goes” – dress as your favorite actor or actress, character or theme.
