North Manchester Man Faces Charges After August DWI Crash

BY JEN GIBSON, Times-Union Staff Writer

A North Manchester man involved in a pickup-car collision in August was arrested Thursday evening for driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.

Donald Ryan Irelan, 31, of 905 Ind. 114E, North Manchester, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:19 p.m. Thursday on one count of driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a Class D felony.

On Aug. 25, Irelan was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup on Packerton Road when he collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Ralph Dotson Jr., 54, of Silver Lake, just south of CR 1200S near Silver Lake.

Dotson suffered extensive lower-body injuries in the crash and was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment.

Irelan, who was unconscious and had to be extricated from his pickup, also was airlifted to Fort Wayne for treatment for internal injuries.

Irelan’s arrested came after he was released from medical care.

If convicted, Irelan could face up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the offense.
