03-01-2007The Times-Union has crafted a new Web site which can be viewed today at timesuniononline.com
The Times-Union first began putting news on the Web in 1996.
At that time, we were one of the first newspapers with a Web presence and our site was quite cutting edge.
After a short time, however, as Internet technology advanced, our Web site became a bit obsolete.
We have known for some time that an upgrade was needed.
Give timesuniononline.com a click and you will see the updated version.
Local content from the newspaper will appear on the site each day free of charge with the exception of obituaries, which will be made available for a small fee as premium content.
Print subscribers can see premium content at no charge by logging in with their telephone number and subscriber account number.
Content can be accessed by clicking on items in the side navigation window on the left side of the site under the “Local” heading.
Under “Forms,” readers can submit anniversary, birth, engagement, wedding or sports information for publication in the print and online editions.
Links to classified advertising, an archive search, and contact information can be found in the top navigation bar. Our archives to all the way back to 1996 when we first began publishing on the Web.
Clicking on the weather icon takes readers to Weather Underground’s local radar and forecast.
Clicking on many of the ads on the site will direct readers to the advertiser’s Web site, offering valuable information and money-saving offers.
The Web site will be updated daily at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at noon.
We believe strongly that our print product is a vital and viable part of the community and view timesuniononline.com as a companion.
Our Web site is a work in progress and we expect more features and funtionality in the future.
We also want readers to be aware that there may be come glitches here and there. Some browsers may work better than others.
Be assured, however, that we are working to iron out all those issues as quickly as possible.
Give us a click and let us know what you think. We think you’ll enjoy timesuniononline.com.
