Exception Granted For Tattoo Parlor

STAFF REPORT

The Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved all three items on the agenda at Monday’s meeting.

Rick Hernandez appeared as a potential tenant before the board wanting to establish a tattoo parlor in a C-3 zoned district.

The proposed business, 3869 Lake City Highway, was granted a special exception to be located within 200 feet of a residence. City ordinance states the requirements be a minimum distance of 400 feet from any church, licensed day care center, public park, school or residence.

Renee Walsh’s request for a variance from developmental standards, to build an attached porch in an R-2 district with an 8 foot setback at 214 Funk St., also was approved.

Peter Brooks, 2432 Sally St., also received the nod to complete construction of an 8-foot-high wood privacy fence in a residential district. The maximum height for a privacy fence is 6 feet.

A request by Scott Gray, 3350 Lake City Highway, for a variance from developmental standards for a freestanding sign was tabled.

BZA members are Bruce Woodward, Alan Clingan, Richard Keeven, Tom Heuer and Dan Hampton.
