Zolman Scores 15 In All-Star Game Loss

INDIANAPOLIS – Wawasee’s Shanna Zolman scored 15 points Wednesday, leading the Indiana Junior All-Stars in an 89-74 loss to the Indiana All-Stars at Lawrence North High School.

Zolman, a University of Tennessee recruit, finished the game 5 of 16 from the field and 2 of 4 at the charity stripe. Zolman also finished the basketball game with 12 turnovers.

Other locals that competed include Warsaw’s Hilary O’Connell, who scored two points, and NorthWood’s Carol Duncan, who scored four points.

Indianapolis Ben Davis graduate and 2001 Miss Basketball Shyra Ely, who will attend the University of Tennessee in the fall, led the Indiana All-Stars with 21 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. Highland’s Jenny DeMuth added 16 points, while Notre Dame recruit and South Bend Washington grad Jacqueline Batteast scored 14 points.

On the boys side, Lawrence North graduate Chris Hill led the Indiana All-Stars to a 115-82 victory with a game-high 23 points. Hill finished the game 8 of 12 from the field and 3 of 3 from the charity stripe. Mr. Basketball winner Chris Thomas, a Notre Dame recruit from Indianapolis Pike, added 18 points on a 7-of-11 performance from the field.

The Indiana All-Stars will be in action again Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in the second game of their annual series with Kentucky. The girls game is slated for 5 p.m., while the boys are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
