SOUTH BEND – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season to Fort Wayne Carroll Tuesday in the semifinal round of the South Bend Riley Shootout. The Chargers picked up the 54-52 win after outscoring the Vikings 18-4 in the final quarter of play.
The Vikings fought back to defeat Rochester 68-53 in the evening game to place third overall in the tournament.
Against Carroll, the Vikings took a 37-19 lead at the half. But the Chargers fired up in the second half to outscore Valley 35-15 and get the win.
Rebekah Parker scored 22 points in each game Tuesday, and Kara Kramer scored 18 against Carroll and 16 against Rochester to lead the Vikings.
Valley is now 13-1 on the season.

Tuesday in Elkhart
The Warsaw girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament by defeating Concord 65-45 in the semifinal round Tuesday evening in Elkhart. Jaclyn Leininger and Michelle DeGeeter led the Tigers with 20 points each. The win makes the Tigers 13-1 overall. Warsaw will face off against Plymouth in the NLC Tournament Championship game Friday at 6 p.m. in the Tiger Den.

A last second shot by Mistie Hersberger led to a 51-49 win over Goshen in the consolation round of the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Middlebury. The Warriors held a 29-24 advantage at the half before picking up the win. Rachel Canen led the Warriors with 14 points, while Jessie Wolf added 10. Hershberger scored 13 in the win. Wawasee is 6-5 on the season.

Tuesday in Nappanee
The Wawasee boys basketball team improved to 5-2 on the season with a 69-53 win over Goshen in the consolation round of the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament Tuesday in Nappanee. Kory Lantz led the Warriors with 19 points, while both Austin Kaiser and James Ward scored 14 points. The Warriors are off until Jan. 10, when they face off against NLC opponent NorthWood.

Tuesday in Elkhart
The Warsaw gymnastics team traveled to Elkhart Tuesday and came home with a second-place finish in the Elkhart Central Tournament. Elkhart Memorial won the event. Jakayla Snodgrass led the Tigers with a first-place finish in the vault competition.
